Minnesota remodelers and interior designers: May reporters interview you for their stories?

by | Jul 17, 2012 | Advice & Tips

With two months to go before Mid-America Remodeling & Design Expo, I am looking forward to many weeks of coordinating media interviews. I am calling upon the expertise of our marketing partners, many of whom will be interviewed by reporters. As this is happening, I have also been contacting calendar and events editors about the event, which will be held September 22-23 at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds.

We have secured Events and Calendar listings in many publications, which will help get out the word. More importantly, we developed hot prospects by approaching reporters with great new feature story ideas that are tied to remodeling and design.

You can do this as well by asking the right questions!

Don’t make the mistake of selling a good story to the wrong person. The Events editor can be a valuable resource for lining up feature stories. In my conversations with them, I will often mention a few story ideas that position our remodeling and design exhibitors. Then I’ll ask, “Who is the best person to discuss this with?”

I’ve now developed a list of reporters who cover such topics as remodeling and design trends, and the current health of the remodeling industry. Next, I will run my ideas by them to gauge their interest. Having a great expert for reporters to interview often solidifies their interest.

Are you a remodeling and design expert? There is still plenty of time for me to include you in my media pitching. Or, if you’d like for me to talk with reporters about your event, contact Heather Champine at 952-697-5269.
