As the Summer 50+ PrimeTime Living Expo winds down; how can you maximizing your PR exposure?

by | Aug 3, 2011 | Company News

The busy side of 50+ PrimeTime Living Expo is complete but media exposure is not. As a publicist, I see the stories in the post-expo coverage. Maximizing your PR with post-expo wrap-up stories.

Opportunities are endless with social media as well as the traditional media.  For social media,  post a status up-date to your Facebook. “Tweet” about what the prime timers were interested in, conversations you had with them.  What other social networks would be a fit?

Traditional media, TV radio and print can be more challenging. Working with reporters, you will need to ask yourself, “what makes my experience interesting and unique?”

This may take thinking outside the box.  Ask yourself a few questions. Speak from your experience. Add exciting details.

What did you learn from the expo that made it exciting?

Were you a presenter?  Talk about you experience, the topics you covered, the audience reaction and interest in the presentation.  Use a lot of descriptive phases to give your readers a sense of where you were and how you felt.

Was it face-to-face networking with attendees? What interesting stories did they tell you? What were their questions and comments.  An example might be, “ The attendees were full of life. I met a “prime time” couple who were talking about a dream vacation they had returned from, Alaskan cruise….” Add details for interesting content.

Contacting traditional media can be tricky. You may want to identify  shows that are a fit and contact  the go-to people. You could tie in any traditional media that attended the expo. Was there a reporter at the expo? We have had several reporters from The Star Tribune, Rochester Post Bulletin, and Minnesota Sun attend expos in the past.  Did you talk to the on-location TV crew at the expo?

Strike while the iron is hot. The expo is a perfect opportunity to maximize your media exposure.

The Fall 50+ PrimeTime Living Expo is coming up October 4-5 at Mystic Lake Resort and Casino. Our publicity team is already contacting media for pre-expo coverage while wrapping up the Summer 50+ PrimeTime Living Expo with post-expo coverage to maximize opportunities. www.101expos.com

I can’t wait to see your post-expo story on the Star Tribune’s front page.
