News article on phone with grass background

An educational approach to PR can make people feel smart about buying whatever you are selling. People love to tell others all the facts supporting their buying decision! For years Californians were told that artificial lawns were good for the environment. Then it became apparent that fake grass has serious drawbacks. So when Harmony Outdoor Brands came to us with a better alternative, we were excited to help them teach Californians why and how to make the switch.

Californians are faced with a dilemma

California once championed artificial lawns as an answer to the state’s water crisis. However, it has since been discovered that some artificial lawns release toxic ‘forever’ chemicals into the soil. They also contribute to environmental warming among other issues.

This news is causing some Californians to want to rip out their artificial lawns. But they still want to be smart about choosing a replacement. What are their alternatives?

Harmony Outdoor Brands is stepping forward with the answer. Newer varieties of  Bermuda grass are so environmentally friendly and perfect for California’s climate that they are being called The Real California Lawn.

This article educates readers on how to make the change

In this article appearing in the San Fernando Valley Sun, we arranged for turf expert Danielle Scardino to give step-by-step instructions for safely removing and disposing of potentially toxic artificial turf. She also does an excellent job describing the environmental benefits of the newer Bermuda grass varieties. While we have no control over the media’s headlines, we are thrilled that they referred to the solution as the Real California Lawn.

Educational PR shouldn’t be blatant

People are wary of hype. They want to believe they’ve made smart decisions after examining clear, unbiased facts. A well-orchestrated educational PR campaign can provide those facts, and help people understand why your product is a solution. The “why” could be based on price, availability, country of origin, quality or another point of differentiation.
