Be a media pro: Tip No. 4 of 17

In this article

Over the course of the next two weeks I am going to share with you the 17 tips my staff has compiled to make you look like a media pro. Hopefully they will help you feel confident and prepared when the spotlight shines on you.

Tip 4: Find A Quiet Place

Don’t get distracted by your environment during the interview. If you are doing a telephone interview, find a quiet room without any distractions. You’ll be able to concentrate on the interview and you’ll sound better.

    Example

Ringing telephones, office chaos, and loud equipment are just some of the distractions possible at radio or television stations. This hectic environment causes some people to lose their concentration during an interview and stumble through their responses.

In a frenzied environment, you can avoid any problems by tuning out any outside distractions and staying focused on the interviewer and the questions he or she asks. If you know there will be distractions and you’re going to ignore them, it will be quite easy.
