Congratulations! Now how should you call attention to your achievements?

In this article

Many business owners are reluctant to call attention to their achievements. If you’ve been honored (or are about to be honored) you might be unsure how to communicate news of this award without sounding self-serving.
    Here are some ideas:

    · Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn: Post a brief thank-you to the group that is honoring you for giving you the award and include a link to that group for friends/associates who want to learn more about the organization.
    · Press release: Use the award as a hook to gain the reporters’ interest, then spend the balance of the release telling your company’s story. Send the release to all of the local media including your community newspaper. Also include any relevant trade and consumer business publications in the press release distribution.
    · Existing clients: Send a mass email stating simply that you have received the award and explaining the award criteria.
    · Website and e-newsletter: Announce the award on your website by stating that you feel honored by the recognition, then thank your co-workers and clients for their support. Also, create an “awards and recognition” page on your website on which to post this recognition as well as your business memberships, chamber memberships, etc.
    · Biography: Add information about the award to your official biography used on your Website, in press releases, and/or in proposals.
    · Office: Showcase the award in your lobby to use as a talking point when giving tours.
    · Business cards: Add the award name/year to your business cards.
    · Emails: Add the award name to your signature line with a link to group’s award page if it has one.
    · Speaking engagements/media interviews: Provide information about the award as a talking point that will add credibility to your expertise.
    · Trade shows: Bring a representation of the award to display at your booth.
Any time you get media coverage mentioning your award, add it to digg.com for more visibility. Also consider create a press section on your own website where you can feature all of your company’s media coverage.
