We’ve all heard of Miss America and Miss Universe , but did you know there’s another pageant that honors women who’ve reached the age of elegance?

For the past 30 years another pageant has been quietly emerging: Ms. Senior America , where the age requirement is 60 plus and the contestants are ready to be heard.

With the average age of America’s population rising, we are seeing more opportunities. This pageant and national media coverage exemplifies the increasing interest in this 50+ primetime market.

These amazing women of distinction represent 33 states including Minnesota and the US Virgin Islands.

State contestants compete in four areas:  talent, interview, evening gown, and philosophy of life competition.

Ms. Senior America doesn’t walk away with a scholarship or any large cash prize. Instead, she spends a year representing what an older woman can achieve and still offer to her community.

The Ms. Minnesota Senior America Pageant will be held at the Humana 50+ PrimeTime Living Expo, April 19-20, 2011 at Mystic Lake Casino. A new Ms. Minnesota Senior Queen will be selected and crowned.  The Queen will then take part in the national Ms. Senior America pageant. The pageant pays tribute to contestants for their achievements and volunteerism. We also champion their ability to exemplify healthy aging, wellness and mental well being.

The women who compete in this pageant continue to serve and share their talents with others long after the event. In fact, more than 300 past contestants are members of the Senior America Cameo Club, a sisterhood and service organization.
