Be a media pro: Tip No. 6 of 17

In this article

My staff at Media Relations Agency has come up with 17 tips to make you look like a media pro. Hopefully they will help you feel confident and prepared when the spotlight shines on you.

Tip 6: Let the Host Be Your Captain

Trust your host to guide you through the interview. He/she is experienced, and knows better than anyone how to make the interview successful. At times you may feel the conversation should be going in a different direction, but don’t stop the host. They know what they’re doing.

Example Another interviewee was talking about a health-related topic in an interview. Rather than following the host, the client began talking about religious implications. The host, who was treating it as a straight health topic, was thrown off by the religious angle. As a result, the interview went poorly and generated very few calls.
