What the data says
before we build

A review of two years of analytics, search rankings, site content and technical health — and what it means for the new website.

7 Aug 2024 – 6 Aug 2026 · Prepared by Media Relations, Inc.

01 — Where the traffic goes

Almost none of it reaches the website we are rebuilding

Pregnancy Choices runs three separate web properties. Nearly all measured traffic goes to the paid landing pages, which are managed by the ad agency and sit outside this project.

go.mypregnancychoices.com 90.4% 36,020 sessions · Paid landing pages Donor site 6.8% · 2,711 sessions The site we are rebuilding — 2.7% · 1,089 sessions Aug 2024 Aug 2026 · 39,849 total sessions

2.7%of sessions reach the main website
0.4%of tracked conversions
1,089sessions in two years
25,433sessions on one paid landing page
Why this is good news

The new website is not replacing a high-performing conversion engine — that engine already exists on the paid side and it is working. What we are rebuilding is the organic and brand asset, which today is close to a standing start. There is very little to lose in the migration and a great deal of headroom.

It does mean the rebuild should be judged on organic growth, not total site traffic. Total traffic is roughly 90% paid and would mask any organic gain.

02 — What is actually being tracked

Almost every recorded conversion is someone tapping a phone number

Analytics records around 18,000 conversions across the two years. Listing them by name shows what they are.

times recorded people Text 8,656 47.1% 3,217 Call 8,655 47.1% 2,999 Forms 1,068 5.8% 830 Directions 4 0.0% 4
Every action configured as a conversion in Google Analytics, 1 August 2024 to 6 August 2026, across all three properties.
Ninety-four per cent of the total is a tap on a phone number

Text and Call together account for 17,311 of the roughly 18,000 recorded conversions. Form submissions are 1,068, under six per cent. “Get directions” has fired four times in two years.

A tap is a genuine signal of interest and worth counting. It is not the same as an appointment — some taps do not become calls, some calls do not become bookings. The headline figure should never be presented as appointments booked.

The device data agrees. On the paid ultrasound page, conversions run at 65% on phones and 1.3% on desktops — a fiftyfold gap on the same page. Phones can dial a number; desktops largely cannot. On the three pages driven by forms rather than phone calls, mobile and desktop rates are roughly equal, which is what a form looks like.

What changed in June 2025

0 200 400 600 800 1000 Aug 24 Nov 24 Feb 25 May 25 Aug 25 Nov 25 Feb 26 May 26 Aug 26 avg 792 per 1,000 avg 122 per 1,000 — after June 2025 rate
Conversions per 1,000 users per month, all properties combined. The rate falls from an average of 792 to 122 in a single month and never recovers — while visitor numbers rise afterwards.
Call and text tracking stopped. Enquiries did not.

Plotting the four conversions separately shows Text and Call collapsing in June 2025 while Form submissions continue at the same steady level throughout. Nothing happened to demand and nothing happened to the forms — the measurement of taps stopped working.

The most likely cause is the call-tracking software installed on the site, which rewrites phone numbers on the page as visitors arrive. If the tracking was set up to watch for a specific number, that rewriting would quietly break it. The links still work perfectly for visitors; they simply stop being counted. Three different numbers are currently in circulation across the website and the Google Business Profile, which is consistent with that.

If that is the explanation, the calls are not lost — they are being recorded in the call-tracking system instead. Connecting the two would restore the picture and improve on it, because that system counts calls that actually connected rather than taps.

Forms: the number that never broke

Form submissions ran steadily throughout at 1,068 across all three properties. Separating the confirmation pages by property shows where they landed.

About two dozen enquiries from the main website in two years

The contact form works correctly and is counted correctly. It produced roughly 24 submissions across the full two years — a little over one a month. That is not a measurement failure; it is consistent with 575 organic visits over the same period, a median page length of 208 words, and almost no presence on page one outside the organisation’s own name.

In one sense this is the cleanest possible reading. Nothing valuable is hidden in the numbers and nothing will be lost in the rebuild. The website simply is not yet bringing people to the door.

One genuine bright spot

A Spanish-language ultrasound page converted 5 of its 9 organic visits — the strongest rate anywhere on the main site. Tiny volume, but it points to real unmet demand.

Two smaller faults worth fixing

“Get directions” has fired four times in two years. For a walk-in clinic whose main invitation is to come in, that is a broken tag rather than a low number. It is almost certainly missing a trigger on the map and the directions link.

All three properties use a confirmation page called /thank-you, distinguishable only by a trailing slash. It is an easy trap when reading reports. The new site should use a separate address for each form — for example /thank-you/appointment/ and /thank-you/contact/ — so that enquiries can be traced back to the page that earned them.

03 — How people arrive

Paid search brings almost everyone; nearly all of them are on a phone

Paid Search 33,192 17,372 conversions Direct 2,646 154 conversions Organic Search 575 53 conversions Unassigned 532 282 conversions Paid Social 261 0 conversions Referral 140 13 conversions Cross-network 132 45 conversions Organic Social 32 0 conversions
Sessions by channel. Organic search delivered 575 sessions across two years — roughly 25 per month. That is the number the rebuild is designed to move.
Mobile 33,331 17,496 conversions Desktop 3,412 282 conversions Tablet 767 141 conversions
Sessions by device. Mobile accounts for 89% of visits and 98% of conversions.

The mobile-first commitment in the proposal is well supported. In practice this means design review should happen on a phone before a desktop, and that tap-to-call and tap-to-text belong on every page rather than only on the contact page.

04 — The site today

Light on content, and competing with itself

33,687words across the whole site
208median words per page
78pages under 300 words
41unpublished drafts
27pages overlapping other pages
13pages with a tap-to-call link

A well-developed service page in this sector runs 800 to 1,200 words. The median page here is 208. This is the clearest single reason organic traffic sits where it does: there is not enough on the page for Google to rank, and not enough for an anxious visitor to feel informed.

Twenty-seven English pages overlap with another page on the same topic — five separate pages for men and fathers, three content hubs, two ultrasound pages, two scheduling pages. This shows up in search results: one query returns four different Pregnancy Choices pages at positions 18, 34, 58 and 78, splitting a signal that should belong to one page.

The Spanish addresses are wrong

The site is fully bilingual — 103 pages in each language. The translation plugin also translates page addresses, so the live Spanish ultrasound page sits at /es/servicios-de-embarazo/ultrasonidos/. The sitemap, however, submits the untranslated /es/pregnancy-services/ultrasounds/. Google is being handed addresses that do not exist. This should be corrected before launch.

Separately, the Spanish translations are machine-generated rather than written by a person. For medical and crisis content that is worth a deliberate decision rather than an assumption.

05 — Service area

Three different answers, none of them written down

Before we build the location pages, we need one agreed answer to a simple question: which communities does Pregnancy Choices serve? Right now the website gives three.

Where it appearsWhat it says
Homepage and services page“Apple Valley, MN and the surrounding Twin Cities metro”
Footer“Serving the South Metro” — then lists eight cities
Scheduling and contact pages“Located in Apple Valley, MN” — no area given

The Twin Cities metro is a seven-county region of roughly three million people. As a statement of welcome that is generous and true. As a search target for one walk-in clinic it is too broad to rank for, and it competes directly against organisations with a physical location much closer to the person searching.

Please correct anything below that is wrong. This is our reading of the data, not a decision — and the client records will beat our guess every time.

What the geography actually looks like

15 mi 10 mi 5 mi Amnion Guiding Star Wakota First Care — 4 locations Burnsville 4 mi Lakeville 6 mi Eagan 5 mi Rosemount 4 mi Bloomington 9 mi St. Paul 16 mi Minneapolis 17 mi Pregnancy Choices — Apple Valley 15010 Glazier Ave Core — build depth here Reachable Stretch — rivals sit closer Competing pregnancy centre Straight-line distance from the clinic. Not drive time.
Distances measured from 15010 Glazier Ave. Rings are straight-line distance, not drive time. Competitor locations are the pregnancy centres appearing in the same search results.

Five of the eight cities sit within six miles of the clinic. Bloomington is eight. St. Paul and Minneapolis are sixteen and seventeen — and both have two First Care locations inside them. A person in Minneapolis searching “pregnancy centre near me” will be shown the centre two miles away, not the one seventeen miles south. That is not a content problem we can write our way out of.

Our suggested focus

Core (build real depth): Apple Valley, Burnsville, Lakeville, Eagan, Rosemount — all within about six miles, all in Dakota County.

Reachable: Bloomington.

Stretch: St. Paul and Minneapolis — keep the pages, but do not invest equally. Better used to reach people who are already willing to travel.

The eight location pages are currently the same page

We compared them with the city names removed. They are between 97% and 100% identical — one template with the town swapped in, all around 355 words. “Free pregnancy tests near Burnsville” becomes “near Eagan”, and nothing else changes.

Search engines recognise this pattern and discount it, which is why these eight pages produced three organic visits in two years. Each needs genuinely local content: directions and landmarks, travel time, local partner organisations, and where possible a story from someone in that community.

One question that would settle this

Rather than deciding from search data, the better source is the client’s own intake records. Which cities do clients actually travel from? A year of intake by home city or postcode would rank these communities by real demand and settle the question properly.

It is also worth checking whether any state or county funding carries a defined service territory. If it does, that answer should govern.

Two local listing issues

There are currently three different phone numbers in circulation: 952.234.9850 across the website, 952.234.9854 on the “Text” button in the menu, and 952-295-3287 on the Google Business Profile. Some of this is call-tracking software working as intended, but search engines use consistent name, address and phone details as a trust signal for local ranking. This is worth reconciling deliberately.

The second is review volume, which is one of the strongest factors in whether a clinic appears in the local map results.

Minnesota Women’s Care (paid OB/GYN) 401 4.7 stars Guiding Star Wakota 74 4.5 stars Amnion Women’s Center 57 4.2 stars First Care — University Ave 48 4.0 stars First Care — White Bear Ave 48 4.4 stars First Care — Richfield 29 4.4 stars First Care — Chicago Ave 28 4.3 stars Pregnancy Choices 25 4.3 stars
Google review counts and ratings. The rating is competitive; the volume is the lowest of the group.

The rating of 4.3 is in line with everyone else. The count is not — 25 against 57, 74 and 48. For an organisation with this many grateful clients, a simple, consistent review request at the end of a positive visit is among the cheapest available improvements to local visibility.

07 — Keywords to start tracking

52 terms, weighted to the South Metro service area

Tracking starts now rather than at launch, so there is a genuine before-and-after picture rather than a clock that starts on day one.

Set-up: one campaign for mypregnancychoices.com with the location set to Apple Valley, Minnesota, device set to mobile, and a second campaign in Spanish. Local targeting matters here — “near me” terms only return meaningful results when the tracker is anchored to a real place.

Search volumes are Semrush estimates and consistently run well above measured traffic. They are useful for comparing terms against each other, not as forecasts. Blank volumes are terms with no estimate available — usually a sign the term is genuinely local, which is not the same as no demand.

08 — The new site, page by page

Every page, its search target, and what folds into it

This takes the draft structure and attaches a search term to each page, so the build, the copywriting and the redirect plan all work from one document.

Changes from the draft layout: the blog is promoted out of About Us into its own Learn section; location pages are given a home in the footer tier; scheduling is separated from Contact; men’s support becomes one hub rather than two; and a “Think You’re Pregnant?” entry point is added for early-stage searches.
Six changes from the draft, and why

Blog promoted out of About Us. It holds the Minnesota abortion law cluster — roughly 7,000 searches a month currently sitting on page three. Nested under About Us it reads as an afterthought to both readers and search engines.

Location pages given a home. Eight already exist. They belong in the footer rather than the main menu, because nobody browses to them — they arrive from search.

Scheduling separated from Contact. “Contact us” and “book an appointment” are different intentions. With nine in ten visitors on a phone, booking needs its own persistent button.

Men’s support becomes one page. Five pages currently compete for the same searches, which splits the signal between them.

Two labels renamed. “Resourcing Support” becomes Material Support — people search for “free diapers near me”, not for the internal programme name. R.E.A.C.H. leads with what it does.

A “Think You’re Pregnant?” entry point added. Symptom and “am I pregnant” searches are high volume and currently have no natural home.

Page-to-keyword map

Each page gets one primary term it is written to win, plus a supporting cluster. The third column is the redirect plan: every existing address is accounted for, so nothing that currently earns visibility is lost at launch.

Terms without a figure are hyper-local and carry no estimate — which reflects the limits of the tool rather than absence of demand. Spanish equivalents mirror this structure at /es/.

09 — Recommendations and decisions

What we do next

Before launch

  • Confirm with the advertising agency when the call-tracking software was installed, to settle the June 2025 question
  • Restore call and text tracking, which worked until June 2025, and connect the call-tracking software to analytics so it cannot silently break again
  • Repair the “get directions” tracking
  • Give each form its own confirmation address so conversions are traceable to a page
  • Consolidate the 27 overlapping pages into single, stronger pages
  • Correct the Spanish addresses in the sitemap
  • Map every existing address to its new home so no visibility is lost
  • Rebuild and expand the Minnesota abortion law page
  • Audit the 50 embedded code blocks that carry tracking and scheduling tools

At launch

  • Sticky tap-to-call and tap-to-text on every page
  • Online scheduling that works without a phone call
  • Complete metadata and structured data across all pages

After launch

  • Deepen the eight city pages to compete on “near me” searches
  • Build content in the priority clusters, targeting depth over volume
  • Pursue community and directory links, which competitors already hold
  • Consider professional translation of the highest-value Spanish pages
  • Introduce a consistent review request at the end of a positive visit

Decisions we need from you

DecisionWhy it matters now
Does the paid landing page site eventually fold into the new website?Changes the site structure, the tracking plan, and what we optimise after launch
Which Spanish pages get a human translation? The pages already exist and are indexed separately — the open question is quality, not structure
What happens to the 41 unpublished drafts?Finish, publish, or leave behind — each has a different cost
Which staff will author and review content, and may we name them?Named authors with credentials materially affect ranking on health topics
Is the events calendar staying?A plugin dependency that needs a decision before the build locks
