Drive Traffic Through AI & Organic Search

A structured plan to own the searches — human and AI — that MPS's buyers actually make, and to turn a long-tail catalog into a compounding traffic engine.

Draft for Discussion

Organic search already delivers roughly a quarter of MPS revenue on a fraction of the traffic — the most efficient channel in the account. But the way buyers search is changing: 26 of 41 tracked keywords now trigger an AI Overview, and on the highest-value consumable terms, MPS isn't in the answer. This plan does two things at once — deepen the organic foundation that's already working, and get MPS cited in the AI results that increasingly sit above it.

What the data shows

Pulled from the current SEMrush rankings and the WooCommerce catalog.

183
different products make 80% of revenue — a true long-tail catalog
50%

26/41

~27%
of revenue already comes from organic search

The structural insight: where MPS ranks well today, it's on category and brand terms — "cleanroom workstation," "cleanroom furniture," "cleanroom tape," "benchpro," "ultratape," all page one. Individual product pages rank far less often. So the foundation (categories, brands) is working; the long-tail product layer is the untapped upside. The strategy below builds structurally first, then expands into the tail — rather than chasing 2,000 product keywords one at a time.

The organic strategy

Layer 1 · Foundation

Strengthen the category & brand structure

Deepen what already ranks · highest ROI

  • Category pages are the workhorses. They already rank for the terms with real commercial intent. Optimizing titles, on-page content, internal linking, and schema at the category level lifts a whole cluster of products at once.
  • Brand pages capture navigational demand. "benchpro" (880/mo) and "ultratape" already rank — the brand hubs are a proven pattern worth extending to every line MPS carries.
  • Structural, not one-off. A well-built category page pulls its whole product family up with it — far more efficient than optimizing individual SKUs.

Build the targeted keyword list & work the tail

Turn 2,000 products into a keyword map

  • Keyword research off the product table. Mine the catalog and SEMrush to build a large, prioritized keyword list — mapping product families and specs (ISO class, material, size) to the terms buyers use, grouped so content targets clusters, not single words.
  • Prioritize by volume × intent × winnability. Not every long-tail term is worth a page; the list is scored so effort goes where ranking is achievable and the term converts.
  • Close the near-misses first. 12 keywords sit at positions 11–20 — page two. The cheapest wins in SEO: small on-page and link work moves them onto page one.

Drive traffic through AI

The newest and least-contested opportunity: being the answer AI assistants give — and understanding where those answers come from.

AI Visibility

Get MPS into the AI answer

26 of 41 tracked terms already show AI Overviews

  • MPS is missing from AI answers on products it sells. High-volume consumable terms show an AI Overview but no MPS presence — demand being answered by someone else.
  • AI answers are built from sources — and tracking shows us which ones. AI-visibility tracking doesn't just tell us whether MPS appears; it reveals the sources feeding the top placements. Those sources are traditional and trade media, self-publishing sites, MPS's own social channels, and MPS's own website. That turns "get cited by AI" from a mystery into a plan: earn presence in the sources the AI is drawing from.
  • Earned media is now the sourcing layer for AI. A trade-press placement or an authoritative owned article isn't only read by humans — it's raw material the AI quotes. The PR and content program below is the AI-visibility program.
  • Structure content for extraction. Clear specs, FAQs, comparison tables, and schema make MPS's pages the source AI assistants pull from — the same work that helps traditional rankings.

Lead generation through organic

Not all organic traffic is equal — some of it is the cleanroom pipeline.

  • A distinct cluster of terms drives leads, not product sales. "cleanroom workstation," "hardwall cleanroom," "fan filter unit," "cleanroom furniture" and their siblings — roughly 6,250 monthly searches across 28 tracked build-related terms — feed the quote pipeline, not the cart. This is where a $118K cleanroom quote pipeline begins.
  • 10 of those already rank page one. The build/configuration cluster is MPS's organic strength — protecting and extending it directly grows the high-value lead pipeline.
  • Map keywords to funnel stage. Product/consumable terms → ecommerce revenue. Cleanroom/build terms → lead pipeline. Reporting separates the two so the program is judged on revenue and leads.
The pointMPS's best organic asset isn't a product page — it's the cluster of cleanroom-build terms that generate high-value quote requests. That cluster deserves dedicated content and link investment.

The ongoing program

What runs monthly to compound all of the above — and to feed the sources AI pulls from.

Search & Content

  • Ongoing SEO — category/brand optimization, tail expansion, technical health.
  • Blogs & application guides — informational content that ranks and feeds AI answers.
  • Owned content & self-publishing — the site and satellite content AI treats as a source.
  • AI-visibility optimization — structuring content to be cited.

Authority & PR

  • Trade PR — coverage in the cleanroom press buyers read and AI cites.
  • Digital PR — earned links that lift domain authority across the catalog.
  • Backlink program — steady authority building.
  • Social — LinkedIn-led B2B presence that supports both search and AI sourcing.

How we work together — options

You set the priorities, metrics, and budget. We allocate against them and report on what moved.

Flexible marketing account

Fund it in $5K increments

  • A flexible marketing account, starting in $5,000 increments, drawn down against the work you prioritize and refilled as needed. It keeps spend aligned to goals rather than locked to a rigid scope.
  • Monthly budget guidance: Digital-only programs start at $3,500/mo; combined Digital + PR programs start at $7,000/mo. Trade and digital PR carry the AI-sourcing weight, which is why the combined tier matters for the AI-visibility goal.
  • SEMrush is a monthly subscription cost, billed at cost — it's the tooling the project needs for keyword research, rank tracking, and AI-Overview monitoring, not a separate service line.
