BLS runs a concentrated segmentation strategy against a tight, nameable audience: R&D formulators and brand marketers at supplement, functional food, beverage and personal care companies. The data says the audience is showing up. The system that catches them is not yet built. Grounded in the BLS marketing data warehouse — GA4, Search Console, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, Campaign Monitor and 14 years of earned media records.
The instinct with a flat chart is to buy more traffic. That instinct is wrong here. BLS is not a volume business — the total universe of formulators who could specify Bioenergy Ribose or RiaGev is measured in thousands of people, not millions. Broad reach is the wrong tool for a concentrated segment.
What the data actually shows is a leaky system around a small, high-value audience: conversion events that are not recording, a search property that appears to be watching the wrong domain, an editorial engine that earns placements and then routes them nowhere, a 4,200-person house list mailed six times in a year, and zero dollars ever spent on the one channel that can target this audience by job title and employer.
Five paths. Each fixes a different break in the chain from awareness to qualified inquiry. The first one is not optional — it is the instrumentation that makes the other four measurable.
Instagram has 267 followers and produced 13 website clicks in twelve months. The follower base skews consumer and young — 20 followers under 24, concentrated in scattered consumer markets — which is the opposite of a formulation chemist at a contract manufacturer.
Reach did improve sharply in May and June 2026, so the recent content is working on its own terms. The issue is not execution. It is that the platform does not contain BLS's buyer.
Recommendation: reduce Instagram to low-effort cross-posting and move the production time to LinkedIn and technical content. This is not a failure to fix — it is a resource to redeploy.
Sequential, not simultaneous. Path 01 is instrumentation and comes first — without it the other four cannot be evaluated. Paths 02 and 05 are cheap and fast. Paths 03 and 04 are the compounding investments.
The messaging document says BLS is not just an ingredient provider — that it partners with customers to develop total innovative solutions. The marketing data does not yet say that. It says a company with real clinical proof, genuine trade-press standing, and a strong technical bench is publishing product features into a channel mix that was never aimed at its buyer.
Nothing in these five paths requires a new audience. It requires a tighter system around the audience BLS already has — measured properly, targeted precisely, and asked to act.
