Marketers: Keep these top three Twitter tips handy

by | Sep 11, 2014 | Advice & Tips

Twitter is the fastest moving channel in social media. With real-time updates, the challenge is ensuring that your audience is actually seeing your Tweets. Getting into the Tweeting world can seem like a marathon that you will never win and worst yet, it will never end! Yet it’s worth it to try. Twitter is a great channel for capturing consumer insights and really attracting engagement with your brand or company, so you don’t want to miss opportunities. This fast-moving information stream brings a huge number of potential customers to your fingertips, so you will want to jump in and get your product or company seen!

Here are my top three tips for maximizing your Twitter marketing:
1. Find out when your target audience is online. Everyone is searching for information, and best advice on products and companies, so you will want to know when they are actually on Twitter. An easy trick is to use the advance search option. Log onto Twitter at different times of the day, and do relevant searches about your brand or company using keywords. You will be able to determine if anyone is talking about the topic in general and when those conversations are happening. Most importantly, you will be able to capture what is being discussed and what questions are being asked. This is a great way to get social media content ideas. The more your content connects with, and answers, any problems, the better.

2. Use an interesting headline. You want to grab readers’ attention, and get them to click on your Tweet and engage. Don’t just use your blog’s headline. Pose a question or add in a personal comment about the content. When readers feel compelled to answer or chime in on a subject, this gives you opportunity to connect and really get to know them. Try scheduling out multiple posts for the same blog but using different headlines. This will yield more posts, and increase the likelihood that your content will be seen.

3. Include a photo or video in your Tweet. Visual content works best for encouraging engagement and sharing. This tactic will grab attention and encourage interest in your information. Graphics bring your product or company to life!
