How to get good PR

When products are mentioned in the news, it gives them instant third-party credibility. That’s why we advise getting good PR for your product as often as possible. Media Relations Agency has arranged for our clients’ products to be covered on every major TV network, in high-circulation print publications, on drive-time radio and by influential digital media. While there are many ways to get your story in the news, some strategies work better than others.

Great PR doesn’t just happen. When we pioneered our Pay Per Interview® model more than 30 years ago, we began taking on most of the risk. We had to become the best at getting results. The media know a good story when they see one. The hard work begins before you write a release, or contact reporters and producers.

First, give careful consideration to these questions:

  • Who is your market? This will help you define what you say and which media you target with your pitch.
  • What do you need to tell them? What are your product’s unique value points?
  • What does your market want to hear? Another way to think of this is, what problem do you solve?

If you need help crafting your answers to any of the above, start by using the Strategically Aimed Marketing (SAM 6®) tools. They’ll provide you with a simple, six-step process.

Then consider how your story is presented. Is it fresh? Is it easy for the media to use? We developed our Media Grade Content® process to ensure that everything we present to the media has the desired impact. We even use the media’s preferred AP Style as our guide. This journalistic lens improves the credibility of brand marketing content.

To develop your brand’s story, it’s essential to ask the right questions and apply the right marketing concepts. With a well-defined marketing strategy in place, you will feel a sense of relief.  You will finally be on point and telling your complete story.

I am delighted when companies give us the opportunity tell their stories. Please call us at 952-697-5269 or complete our contact form. Let’s set up a time to discuss your product and objectives. We’ll create a plan to make your story more irresistible to the media and their audiences.

She enjoys leading campaigns for complex industries such as medical devices and technologies, as well as fun industries such as hair salons. She thrives on pursuing creative ways to educate consumers about clients’ products, and ultimately inspiring them to buy. “I appreciate becoming a part of each client’s marketing team. I cherish the long-lasting relationships, and successful marketing programs we have created together.” Heather also finds joy in her daily collaborations as part of our creative team. “I am grateful to work with publicists, writers, designers and other marketing experts, all enjoying what they do because they are using their God-given strengths. Our publicists have great instincts because they all have media backgrounds. When things get hectic, it’s often Heather who cracks the first joke. “We encourage people to be a little goofy and unique. Some of the best ideas and solutions emerge because we know how to have fun,” she grins. “I may say something like, “Remember this is PR not the ER. Now, lighten up and go book a great story idea with the media!”
