Michelle: a bet is a bet!

I've made a wager with my co-worker Michelle Roddie. Robin Kocina was the witness. I've agreed to speak during our Girlfriends Expo & Getaway this November IF Michelle can find a business to sponsor me.

I'm a Stage 3 invasive breast cancer survivor. The last 19 months have been rough: 10 surgeries, 6 months of chemo, 33 rounds of radiation … and a host of downright unpleasant side effects. My co-workers have been extremely supportive, and I feel that in many ways we've made this journey together.

I tell people that I've lost my breasts, not my sense of humor. In fact, I feel very lucky. Cancer has taught me to find joy in the smallest details, and to let go of the bothersome things that just aren't that important. I once saw a tee shirt that said ,"I fought breast cancer. Do you really think you can scare me?". That pretty much sums up why and how I can stay so calm, focused and happy nowadays.

Anyway, back to the wager. I'd like to tell my story at the expo because I'm hoping it will help others. But a deal is a deal. Michelle needs to bring in someone to sponsor my stage time.

Michelle? The clock is ticking. Our promotional campaign has already begun.
