Public relations is all about being persistent
You’ve got your product, you have a great pitch for the media, and you have a list of who you want to call to cover your story. Now the hard part: getting someone to listen to you.
Journalists are not the easiest people to reach. While some are glued to their phones and computer keyboard; others are rarely in the office and just as rarely check their messages. They are all busy. With daily deadlines and in-boxes filling up with hundreds of emails a day, it can be a real challenge to get a reporter to have a conversation with you, or even remember you for that matter!
It’s all about being persistent. We often have to follow up with our contacts several times through emails or phone calls before we can get an article or TV spot on the books. It can take days, weeks, and believe it or not, even months. Frustrating? Yes. But we don’t give up, and that’s why it’s such a great feeling when all that hard work pays off and we can show our clients that great newspaper article or national television spot we got for them.
