It's all about making new friends

If there is a "secret" to being a good publicist, it is all about making new friends and keeping the old.  Yes, I was a Girl Scout but it's a good model to live by.

But this is particularly true in the sphere of media relations.  I love it when contacts, local and national, tell me to keep calling them with story ideas and when they call me for help on a story — it's awesome. Knowing your media and what they want and how they want it can make those bookings happen. And like any good friend, many of my media friends have then introduced me to other media contacts and the sphere keeps getting bigger and bigger.

The end result, more opportunities to place our clients’ stories in the best publications.
