What's a Podcast?

Simply put, a Podcast is an audio file, most likely an MP3, in talk show format. By subscribing to the show, you can have it automatically delivered to your iPod (or any MP3 player) when you plug into iTunes. The show isn't live, so you can listen to it whenever you want.

What is RSS?

RSS, sometimes known as Really Simple Syndication, is a popular means of sharing content (such as news headlines, blog content and audio files) without requiring readers to constantly visit a Web site to see what's new. RSS feeds contain headlines and hyperlinks to the full content or actual Web pages. An RSS feed is necessary to convert an MP3 file into a Podcast.

How do I get KMC Radio onto my iPod? The following tutorial may get a little technical for some, but have no fear; it's really not that difficult.

First, you'll need to download a news reader that reads RSS 2.0 feeds with enclosures. The news reader, also called an aggregator, takes those enclosures and automatically downloads them in the background. If the file is an audio file, it then moves it to iTunes for download to your iPod.

A number of aggregators are available for you to download, many at no cost. Different aggregators will provide different features and work on different operating systems, so you must take this into account when you make your choice. We've listed a few links to some of our favorites here:

Try a few and see what you think. If none of these are to your liking you can always do an internet search for "aggregators" or "news readers" which will give you an extensive list to test.

Once you've installed your Podcast retriever (aggregator), add KMC Radio's RSS feed by clicking on the orange RSS tab and follow the instructions given to you by whichever aggregator application you're using.
